The Fall of Parlemion (Short Story)

The world was on fire. That was all that private first class Johannes could think as he fled in blind panic through the ruined streets. He could see no more than a few feet in any direction, all was smoke and dust and fire. Bodies littered the pavement in their scores as he stumbled past, civilians, soldiers, diplomats, servitors, every rank and class and role within Parlemion's dizzying social structures was displayed in this morbid tableau of death and destruction. What had happened to the rest of his squad, his company or the entire bloody regiment he had no idea. All he could think of was to flee, back towards the space port and the distant hope of evacuation. If only he could get there, maybe find some shuttle still loading refugees, he just might make it, oh Emperor if only he could make it! A distant explosion rocked the street, the pavement under Johannes feet crumbling and shifting while all around him stone and mortar was blasted from the ravaged buildings all around. If ...

Jedi Fallen Order Review - 7/10

There is a reason Electronic Arts was voted worst company not once but twice. Since managing to score exclusive publishing rights to Star Wars games a few years ago EA has done nothing but damage the franchise and their own reputation further with terrible games, and not very many of them either. One would think a publisher of the size of Electronic Arts with so many talented studios to call upon we would be having a new Star Wars game coming out two or three times a year. Instead gamers have gotten just two new Battlefront games, neither of which possessed the content or quality of the original Battlefront and Battlefront 2. In fact the new Battlefront 2 was so bad and so toxic in its monetization it launched an international scandal and backlash against microtransactions and loot-boxes in gaming. Not to mention the issues with EA cancelling several promising Star Wars game projects including one that was being developed by the lead on the award winning Uncharted series. So it ...

Outer Worlds Review: An Unexpected Gem

Image
As many gamers and sci-fi fans will know the game Outer Worlds released on the 25th of this month. Made by some of the original creators behind the much beloved Fallout franchise, the Outer Worlds features a distinctive art-style, fantastic characters, solid gameplay and an intriguing story at a time when all too many games coming out these days are ham-fisted, over-monetized, broken and buggy garbage. That said lets get down to some specifics. To start with I put well over thirty hours into this game over the last five days and in that entire time I encountered precisely one bug, yup, just one and it was nowhere near a game-breaking bug. I experienced no crashes, no broken areas, no AI path finding issues, the graphics were solid with very little pop-in or similar issues and considering I was playing on a non-pro PS4 I think that's quite impressive. Outer Worlds runs quite well, it feels good to control your character, I never got my character stuck or could not get where I w...

Grim and dour of spirit, merciless and unflinching in battle, the nobles of Andlang are fearsome warriors who stride to war within the armored shells of mighty Imperial Knight Titans, dealing death to the enemies of mankind with blazing cannon and roaring blades. Origins Like all Imperial Knight Households the nobles of House Cenwulf and their mighty Knight Titans are descended from the first human colonists who landed on inhospitable worlds during the golden age of mankind. In the lost era of mankind's first great expansion across the stars a colony ship of settlers stumbled upon an unusual planet that would come to be known as the Knight World of Andlang. Situated in the Segmentum Obscurus, roughly between Armageddon an...
